Story HoursThe Ellsworth Public Library offers a weekly Story Time for children 2 - 5 years old on Thursday mornings from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. There are two sessions per year. One begins in January and another begins in September. Please call 715-273-3209 for more information and to register. Pajama Story Time is held at the library for 2 - 7 year olds, at 7:00 – 7:30 p.m. the third Tuesday evening of every month. Join us for bedtime stories, songs, milk and cookies. Wear your PJ’s and bring your blanket and favorite stuffed animal if you wish. No registration is required for this story time. (Note: if Ellsworth schools are cancelled due to weather, story time is also cancelled. Any questions, call the library at 273-3209.) Summer Teen Reading ProgramThis reading program is offered to 6th – 12th graders each summer. Summer Library ProgramA reading program for all ages of children (Preschool – 5th grade) is held during the summer to promote reading. Our program includes exciting reading challenges, fun activities, awesome prizes, and great entertainers. As summer draws near, watch for details of the summer library program at the library and in the local newspaper. “I Read 100 Stories” ChallengeIn March each year, the library challenges pre-school - 2nd grade students to read/be read to 100 stories and 3rd – 5th grade students to read 500 pages, which is equivalent to 100 stories. Books need to be from the Ellsworth Public Library. Readers who complete the challenge will receive an “I Read 100 Stories” T-shirt. Sign up is required. Morning Book ClubJoin our adult book club held the second Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Senior Center (downstairs in the library). All books are available through the Ellsworth Public Library. There is no cost to attend. We read a variety of genres and have informal discussion. Call the library at 273-3209 for more information and a list of books for the season. OutreachThe library sponsors a year-round outreach program, taking books, audio tapes, videos and special requests to the Ellsworth Care Center and the three apartment complexes for the elderly in Ellsworth. Art ShowsOur library is proud to display artwork from the Ellsworth School District several times during the year. The High School Art Department has a show each November and the K-12 Art Department has an exhibit every March in celebration of Youth Art Month. Each show is a month in length and displays 2-D and 3-D student artwork. Stop in to see what wonderful artists we have in the Ellsworth area. |
